General Manager – Chemical Industry
Onsite | Elland, West Yorkshire

We are working on behalf of an established and innovative business in the chemical sector to find a General Manager who will lead day-to-day operations, drive strategic growth, and ensure excellence across safety, service, and compliance.

What You’ll Be Doing:
As General Manager, you’ll be the senior site lead, reporting to the Managing Director and working closely with the Office and Operations Supervisors. You’ll have full responsibility for delivering safe, efficient, and compliant operations while building a collaborative, high-performing team.
 
Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the implementation of operational strategy and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Overseeing and championing site-wide Health & Safety and environmental compliance
  • Managing and developing the Operations and Office Supervisors to encourage teamwork and accountability
  • Ensuring outstanding customer service by aligning operations with client expectations
  • Overseeing and improving the Quality Management System (QMS) in line with ISO 9001
  • Driving cost-efficiency and promoting a culture of high standards and pride across the site
 
What We’re Looking For:
 
Essential:
  • Proven experience in a senior management role, ideally in a regulated or industrial environment
  • Strong leadership, team development, and decision-making skills
  • Organised, detail-oriented, and proactive with a hands-on approach
  • Excellent communicator and problem-solver with a continuous improvement mindset
Desirable:
  • Knowledge of ISO standards, COSHH, or similar regulations
  • Experience with stock and order management systems
  • Familiarity with HR policies and procedures
  • Background in the chemical, manufacturing, or logistics sectors
  • Full UK driving licence
