Meet our Team: Laura Greaux

Posted in Company News on Aug 28, 2019 by Keeley Edge

As part of our ten-year anniversary celebrations, we wanted to give you the opportunity to get to know us a little better. In our ‘meet the team’ series of blogs, we’re introducing our fantastic team members and giving you a greater insight into what makes Key Appointments different.

This week, we’re getting to know recruitment specialist, Laura Greaux, who has been with Key Appointments for five years. Here’s a little bit more about Laura…

What does your day to day role entail?

“I work on the Key Start part of the business, so a lot of my time is focused on creating job adverts, screening and shortlisting candidates, and updating clients.

I’m also involved in raising awareness of our unique recruitment packages, and as part of that, I am a proud member of BNI Ignite, a referral-based business group.”

What did you do before joining Key Appointments?

“Before joining the Key Appointments team, I worked in IT sales and then as a PA for a facilities management company, where a big part of my role was marketing.”

What was it about Key Appointments that made you want to join the team?

“I loved the way that Keeley worked; the fact that she was client-focused and had a good work ethic and great company values. I particularly liked the focus on providing affordable recruitment for smaller businesses and helping them grow by offering greater flexibility than other recruitment agencies.”

What is your favourite thing about working for Key Appointments?

“Personally, I love the flexibility the role provides as I can work around my children, which is really important.

Professionally, I love being part of the growth of the company and seeing all Keeley’s hard work pay off. Because she has responded to what the market needs, we are able to provide a fantastic service and I feel proud when I talk to clients about what we can offer.”

What do you think sets Key Appointments apart from your competitors?

“I think there are two key differences in the way we do business.

The first is our services – we have a range of packages that suit different budgets and requirements. Unlike other recruiters, we work on a fixed fee basis, so clients know in advance what the cost will be.

Secondly, is our focus on quality over quantity – unlike most recruitment companies, we don’t have high sales targets or commissions. That gives me the freedom to focus on finding the right people, rather than putting forward as many candidates as possible and hoping the client will like one of them.”

It sounds like you enjoy your role, but what do you get up to when you’re not working?

“Having children keeps me pretty busy, but I’m a big fan of adventure. We have a campervan which we try and get away in as often as we can. I also love kitesurfing – not many people have tried it, but I’d definitely recommend it.

Keeping fit is also important, and I recently completed Ironman UK, which involved a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile cycle and running a marathon. I’m still not entirely sure how I managed to complete it; the drop-out rate was high, so it was quite an achievement.”

Wow! Sounds like you’re pretty daring and determined.

So finally, what do you think businesses struggle with most when recruiting?

“I think the biggest struggle is finding the right people. Attracting good candidates isn’t as simple as just putting out a job advert. Both the advert and your employer branding have to appeal to the candidates you want. When you screen CVs, you need to look beyond just the skills and experience to ensure they have the right values too. When you interview, you need to ask the right questions, to find out whether they are the right fit.

When companies try and do recruitment themselves, they often don’t have the time to spend on screening candidates and can often overlook the best people. Luckily, that’s where we can help.”
